I woke up this morning with two things on my mind. Had Trump crashed and burned? As our guide days, "What does Mother Nature have in store for us today?"
Again, we were the only people who weren't part of an organized tour, and again, we had the guide and vehicle to ourselves.
We headed out before dawn. The guides shared information that cheetah tracks were spotted, so we kept our eyes peeled and fingers crossed.
On our way, we saw warthogs
and baboons
Our guide began tracking hippo and we'd hoped we'd get to the water hole before they were all submerged for the day. They spend their nights or if the water foraging for grasses. They can travel to to 3 miles from the water during the night. Once the sun comes up, they return to the water to protect themselves from the sun. They can hold their breath for five minutes before needed to stick their noses up for air.
We almost made it, catching the back of this one hippo
before it joined its friends.
We came across the three lionesses and six cubs. Two of them were sleeping in the sun
while the other one was nursing all six of the cubs in the brush. It was had to get a photo but the experience and seeing and hearing them was amazing.
We came across some other guides, everyone was on the lookout for the cheetah but no one had seen it. At least we hadn't missed it.
We went to another waterhole and watched the zebras and impalas looking like they were having fun chasing each other. The impalas are so graceful when they leap.
Still, no cheetah😐 but it was time to come in for breakfast.*
*Early in the morning, there are juices, coffee, muffins, fruit salad, and yogurt. When you come back midmorning, you are offered breakfast which consists of eggs, breakfast meats, toast, and today beans. Since lunch isn't until 1:00, we grabbed an egg and toast. Enough to hold us over🙂
Thank you, Regina, for texting your impression of the debate. I've pretty much put of leaning more until after this was written. 🤞🏻 the swing states swung.
